"Love Story Trailer" Released for Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival

Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival Story Trailer

With Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival, we’re getting an action-forward licensed slasher later this year. Saber Interactive recently dropped a story trailer that lays out the setup.

From a modern view, Hellraiser (1987) is accidentally hilarious. The elevator pitch: guy opens a door to a hell-ish dimension, gets tortured, escapes as a walking pile of meat and bones, his groupie brings him blood to rebuild his body, the “torture demons” aren’t thrilled and come upstairs, snatch their runaway, roll credits.

That film—and especially its sequel (Hellbound: Hellraiser II)—is where Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival pulls from. Part II is the big one here, since it dives deeper into the Labyrinth’s lore. Also, Clive Barker is closely involved as a story writer.

Speaking of story: we now have a new “Love Story Trailer” for this unapologetically gory affair. It runs 3:22 and tosses out a handful of plot beats that’ll ring a lot of bells if you know your Hellraiser.

Hellraiser: Revival shows off its coaster-level plot

The trailer opens with some skin: hero Aiden Lynch is in bed with his girlfriend Sunny, petting her and looking blissed out. The guy’s smitten. Then we get a club scene with Aiden’s hand firmly parked on Sunny’s butt, followed by some quick bathroom makeout action—because that’s what you do in a “Love Story Trailer.” At least this one skips the cheesy porn-groove soundtrack.

Anyway, it’s a fun little bait-and-switch. You don’t exactly hear “Hellraiser” and expect a couple of cuddly lovebirds. But the sweet stuff doesn’t last: around the midpoint, Sunny’s naked, bouncing on Aiden, and—like any of us would 🙂—she reaches for the Genesis Configuration (that familiar Hellraiser cube) and sets it off. Not quite by choice, of course. Pinhead and the Cenobites give fate a gentle shove.

Aiden, our princess is in another hell

At that point the mission is obvious: Aiden has to rescue Sunny from the Labyrinth, while Pinhead tries to pull him onto Team Cenobite. After that, the trailer switches gears and starts unloading the good stuff—meaty demon carnage way down in the maze.

Aiden mostly goes in with straightforward melee tools, cleaving and crushing anything in his path, though a chunky shotgun shows up too. If you’ve been keeping an eye on Revival, you’ll recognize some of these rough-and-ready shots already. Watching it, I kept thinking: this feels like Condemned: Criminal Origins crawling out of the basement for one more round. Yeah: this thing really looks nasty.

Hellraiser: Revival – When’s the release?

Sadly, the marketing machine started rolling early, but at least it doesn’t sound like a multi-year wait. Saber Interactive is still aiming for 2026, plain and simple: “2026.”

Platforms are PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. If you want it DRM-free, you can vote for it on GOG [here.]. No word on price yet.
